ONAM 2020 Special Jack Fruit Payasam
METHOD TO MAKE RICE BALLS: Boil water, add ghee & salt and stir well. Add the rice powder and mix well on a low flame. Remove the pan off the flame and knead well when the rice dough is slightly cool. Spread some ghee on the palm and make tiny balls out of the rice dough and set aside.
Jackfruit 25 pieces, Water 1 cup, Ghee 1 tbsp, Brown Sugar 2 cups, Coconut Milk 2 cups, Cardamom Powder 1/2 tsp, Fried Rice Powder 3/4 cup, Water 1 1/2 cup, Ghee 1/2 tsp, Salt 1/4 tsp,
Grind the jackfruit coarsely with 1 cup of water. In a pan add ghee and add the jackfruit pulp and stir well until the colour changes and the pulp thickens. Add brown sugar and mix well until brown sugar melts well in the jackfruit pulp add coconut milk and incorporate well. Add cardamom powder and stir the mix well . Lastly, add the Rice Balls and mix it together, when it’s about to begin boiling, remove the pan off from the flame, transfer our Chakka Payasam into a serving bowl. Stir fry cashew nuts in ghee until golden brown and garnish the Chakka Payasam. Voila! Our Special Chakka Payasam is ready to serve.
